A 15-year-old boy and a keke operator were fatally shot by soldiers in Lagos
Description
I visited Lagos State to meet some of my friends, where I witnessed a disturbing incident. While entering a restaurant, I heard gunshots. I tried my best to hide, but not everyone got lucky. The next day, the news of the incident came out, stating that a 15-year-old boy lost his life in the gunfire. In the Yaba neighborhood of Lagos State, Pelumi Sulaimon, a 15-year-old, was reportedly shot and killed by Operation MESA troops in Makoko, leaving his family devastated. Locals claim that on Sunday, February 26, political thugs recruited the military to carry out retaliation on their rivals in the neighborhood. Further reports suggest that the troops opened fire on the neighborhood when they arrived, and one of their bullets struck Pelumi as he was heading to the store to get alcohol for his companions to celebrate his birthday. Under the leadership of a political thug known only as Nuru, the soldiers mistakenly shot and killed a tricycle operator named Aloma, whom they had mistaken for one of their intended targets. According to the source, the burials for Pelumi and Aloma took place on Wednesday. Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police's public relations officer, verified the occurrence. I consider myself fortunate to have escaped the bullets, but at the same time, I feel awful to see the guy who was just a few minutes ago in a happy mood celebrating his birthday had died in the gunfire. If you witness such a case, you must report it immediately.
