A 427-Ramp Rollover Led to The Death of Three International Students
Description
Yet another devastating incident occurred in Toronto wherein a single-vehicle rollover crash on highway 427 in Etobicoke at around 11:30 p.m. on Monday killed three international students from Bangladesh. Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Kerry Schmidt confirmed that the vehicle occupants were Bangladeshi students residing in Toronto on a student visa.
The provincial police further identified the deceased passengers of the car as a twenty-year-old female, a twenty-year-old male, and a seventeen-year-old male. However, the twenty-one-year-old male driver survived the incident but was critically injured and immediately hospitalized. The police did not release the names of the victims yet.
After receiving reports of a rollover and a car fire, emergency personnel arrived on the site. According to police, an automobile was traveling on the ramp at "very high rates of speed" when it veered off the road and crashed into a concrete wall. It eventually damaged itself back on the ramp, where it caught fire. Firefighters had to free all four people from the flaming car. Investigations into the crash's precise cause are ongoing. Police are requesting that anybody with information should contact them.
My Thoughts
A similar incident happened with one of my friends a few days back when he returned from the office. He crashed into the highway divider due to heavy fog. Thankfully, he was conscious enough to use the safety app POTP. Immediately he alerted the monitoring unit. The situation was handled efficiently by that team. They provided medical emergency to the victim as needed while the police worked on raising a fog alert to the other drivers.
In my opinion, unfortunate incidents are inevitable. The least we could do is utilize safety applications like POTP to alert our network and the monitoring agents whenever we are in danger.
