A Lorry collision killed five students.
Description
A tragic accident occurred along the Nakuru-Nairobi and Nakuru-Eldoret highways on 18th April 2023. Five students died in it. And seven others were injured in a collision between a matatu and a lorry near Delamare estates in Naivasha. At the same time, four people died in an accident involving a bus belonging to the Tahmeed bus company at the Jogoo area near Mau Summit. According to the Naivasha sub-county police commander Emmanuel Bowen, the matatu driver tried overtaking several vehicles before the accident. Naivasha Sub-County Hospital was nearby. They were taken there by the police and the pedestrians for treatment. The accident caused a massive traffic jam along the busy highway, with police having difficulty controlling the building traffic. In the Monday evening accident at the Jogoo area near Mau Summit, a bus belonging to the Tahmeed bus company lost control and hit a student before landing in a ditch. Kuresoi North sub-county police commander Judah Gathenge revealed that the bus was traveling toward Nakuru from Eldoret when the accident occurred. Kuresoi said that his condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims and that he hopes the injured make a full and speedy recovery. All road users need to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
My Thoughts
It reminds me of an incident that happened with my neighbor. My neighbor met with an accident while returning from his office on public transport. Due to over-speeding and rash driving, the bus collided with another bus. Later as mentioned, he was severely wounded; by this accident. He was unable to talk. He just used the Pulse of the People app installed on his smartphone and pressed the Live Help button. The monitoring unit could view his condition. They sent medical assistance for all of the injured passengers immediately.
