The shocking rise in crime rates in the United Kingdom

In comparison to other countries, the UK has a lower number of crime scenes. But over the past few years, some areas of the UK have seen increased crime rates, especially after the pandemic crisis. Be it the terrorist attacks or the murder scenes, there are few areas in the UK where people experience more crime which is shocking to hear in the last few years.

The states with high crime rates: 
• Yorkshire and the Humber 
• Merseyside 
• North Wales 

According to the crime survey, Merseyside, Yorkshire, and the Humber have the most reported theft, violence, and other 23 crime categories. However, since 2021, there has been a significant increase in computer and fraud cases in these areas. In North Wales, the homicide rate has increased to a great extent. According to Met Police reports, nearly 200 homicide cases have increased in the last year. There has also been a spike in gang-related and knife killings since 2014. Speculation on the rise in crime rates in the UK: Following the pandemic, total crime increased by nearly 18%, with fraud and computer hacking rising by 54%. Even though these cities have high crime rates, there are some areas of the UK where the murder and homicide rates are slowly increasing. As a result of government restrictions and pandemic norms on social contact, such crime patterns have increased in recent years. During the national lockdown, there was a fall in different crimes and fraud. But computer misuse and hacking offenses are also at their peak. My thoughts: The United Kingdom holds a rich culture and is the most sought-after place to study.
