Unsafe Cooking Method Led to A Fire in The University Halls
Description
Recently, the London fire brigade warned against cooking cheese toast on side toasters as it led to a fire in the university hall. The incident occurred on Monday, 10:30 am, at Avery Hill Road, London. The firefighters reached the student accommodation and found a fire had broken out on the first floor of the building.
As reported by the LFB, a student tried making cheese toast on the side toaster and left it unattended. It has led to the fire. It took almost 40 minutes for the 25 firefighters to bring the fire under control. Luckily, no one was injured. Nevertheless, the London fire brigade commented that from now on, users should take care of their electrical appliances while they are using them. And they should turn it off and unplug it while not used.
Mishandling such appliances may lead to a fire and could be fatal. In 2015, they urged people not to cook cheese toast on its side as tried by a celebrity chef. Th may pose a fire hazard.
This incident reminded me of the day when my neighbor left the pressure cooker unattended for a long time in her house, causing it to burst. A fire broke out immediately, but thankfully, no one was injured. I installed the POTP app on my phone and used it for calling in the fire brigade. That day I realized how helpful these safety apps are during emergencies. I admire the POTP app and highly recommend it to everyone.
