A train runs over a woman and chops off her legs!
Description
The incident occurred on the morning of January 9, 2023, in Uttar Pradesh, India. It happened on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj route. Satna Nishad, a woman aged 40, was run over by a train near the Kotwali Police Station Area at Sultanpur.
Ram Ashish Upadhyay, the SHO of the Kotwali Police Station, reported that the victim, Satna Nishad, was crossing the railway tracks of the area during the morning hours. This place was full of dense fog with zero visibility. She could not see the train approaching! At that very moment, the train ran over her and amputated her legs. Later, her family found her lying near the railway tracks. Currently, she is undergoing treatment in the District Hospital.
My Thoughts
Several incidents have happened where trains have collided with people and animals due to dense fog. The railway authority should take stern steps and look into the matter. It should be beneficial if the railway authority would utilize efficient technology and approaches to reduce such accidents in the future. Moreover, proper digital signal crossing can even reduce these mishaps. With such accidents, the POTP application can help us fight against these issues.
If this lady was using POTP, she could have at least tried calling her friends with just a push button. And who knows, this might have saved her from the leg amputation.
