Carnival turned into a disaster!

The Associated Press reported that a car crashed into a crowd at a street party in southern Nigeria on December 27th, 2022, killing seven people and injuring many others.
A crowded street in Calabar, Cross River State Capital, Nigeria, was the site of a tragic accident when the driver lost control and hit the spectators.
The incident occurred as people gathered to watch the bike parade at a carnival.
The Federal Road Safety Corps of Nigeria informed that it is one of the main festivals of this place.
Thousands of spectators had gathered to watch the stunts of the bikers when a car plowed into the crowd, scattering bodies and leaving the injured along the road.
This carnival started almost two decades before.
Every year it draws people across Nigeria and beyond.
Hassan Abdullahi Maikano, Head of the Road Safety Corps, mentioned that the motorist lost control of his vehicle and ran into the crowd.
The total number of people getting attacked by this act was thirty-six.
Out of these affected spectators, seven people died on the spot & the rest twenty-nine were severely injured.
Currently, they are in the hospital under treatment.
As per the report, five out of these twenty-nine are children.
According to reports, the driver survived, but he is severely injured.
According to the Cross River Gov. Ben Ayade’s spokesperson, Christian Ita, the driver is facing orders for detainment.
Ayade has also expressed deep sympathies for the victims and their families. She has also instructed a thorough investigation into the occurrence of the crash as soon as possible.
