Mass murder in a family might lead to some changes in the whole legislative system.
Description
The increase in the crime rates has left Jamaicans feeling unsafe.
In June 2022, the murder of five members of the same family raised a question about everyone’s security in this country.
Kemesha Wright and her four children were found dead at their Cocoa Piece home.
It was not an intruder, but a family member named Rushane Barnett had committed this murder. Although Barnett had pleaded guilty earlier in this case, the judge noted that there had already been ample evidence pointing him as the suspect, including his bloody knife and clothes and the fact that he had lived with the family.
Following this, in the middle of this year, Prime Minister Andrew Holness publicly announced that he might bring some changes to the Legislative System.
He thinks that it can help in reducing crime in this country. And he has also promised complete support to the family of this victim till they get justice.
Even after these changes, the country continues to witness multiple murders.
The Prime Minister aims more on changing the system to detect violence. He mentioned that by changing the overall legislative and other prevailing systems, he would bring down the crime percentage of this country.
The government will implement such measures, but you must also take the necessary steps to keep yourself safe.
