Silverados collide head-on at Delaware!

On 01/17/2023, the Delaware State Police, USA, are investigating a fatal accident resulting in the deaths of two people.

The accident happened on Laurel Road just west of Goose Nest Road at approximately 5:09 p.m. in the Delaware area, USA.

 A 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling westbound on Laurel Road when the driver failed to remain in her lane.

The vehicle crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane of Laurel Road, directly into the path of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.

It resulted in a head-on collision between the two pickup trucks in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the Silverado 1500, identified as 27-year-old, Lillyanne Ternahan of Frankford, Delaware, was wearing her seatbelt.

The driver of the Silverado 2500, identified as 38-year-old Jamin Pugh of Laurel, Delaware, was not wearing his seatbelt.

Both of them were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two passengers in Pugh’s pickup truck, identified as his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year- old daughter, were properly restrained.

They were in critical condition and were taken to a hospital by ambulance and admitted.

The reason for the crash is still unknown.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours for investigation and cleaning purposes.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating this incident. Sergeant J. Burns is the officer in charge of this case.

The troopers are checking if anyone has witnessed this collision.   They have asked people to call them and inform them if someone has any information regarding this accident.

 

My Thoughts

Accidents are not prior informed. It occurs within a fraction of a second due to any silly mistake. Community-based apps like POTP can help individuals to record these incidents and share them with their network. It creates a sense of awareness against these kinds of unwanted and unforeseen situations.
