St. Augustine woman loses home in suspicious fire days after sister's murder
Description
The sister of a murder victim in St Augustine, Seema Ramkissoon, has lost her home to a fire breaking out just three days after her sister, Aneesa Ramkissoon, was gunned down outside her home.
Seema upgraded her wooden home to a sturdier concrete structure a few years back.
She received a call from her son at around 4 pm on Monday informing her of the incident.
She claims that she had been receiving threats from criminals following that murder.
She was staying with relatives in another neighborhood. On the day of this incident, two men went inside the house. After they walked out of her house, the emission of smoke started.
Seema is devastated by the loss of her home and sister.
She has received threats from criminals who do not want her to have a concrete building in that area.
Aneesa got killed for refusing to pay a "tax" imposed by criminals, as mentioned by Seema. While police and fire officers are investigating the cause of the fire, Seema insists that it was a deliberate act of arson.
However, the police are suggesting that the fire may have been electrical. Technicians from the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (TTEC) were present to disconnect the lines and prevent sparks or fires.
The tragedy highlights that we should always be cautious. Using a safety app like POTP, one can report this kind of scenario that he witnesses around himself to the police or the monitoring unit. Today this has happened to Seema; you may never know who could be the next prey of such a crime.
