Tragedy on the Road: 8 Lives Lost, 35 Injured in Bus Accident in western Türkiye's Afyon

An unfortunate and tragic bus accident occurred in the western province of Afyonkarahisar; early on Sunday morning, February 05, 2023.
A passenger bus, identified by its license plate number 34 SD 7721, overturned and caused the deaths of eight individuals and injured 35 others.
The bus was en route from Diyarbakır to Bodrum. The accident took place at the Karabedir, Dinar Haydarlı junction.
In response to the emergency, a substantial number of rescue teams went to the scene of the accident, including personnel from the health department, fire department, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and the police.
The injured passengers were swiftly transported to the nearby hospitals in Afyonkarahisar and Isparta by 112 Emergency Health Teams.
One of the passengers, 54-year-old Adem Kaya, who sustained a broken arm in the accident, spoke to the Anadolu Agency (AA) and shared his account of the events.
According to Kaya, the driver fell asleep, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn.
Kaya boarded the bus in Şanlıurfa and was on his way to Bodrum.
He stated that there were no weather-related issues, such as icing on the road, and that he was half asleep at the time of the accident.
